Well, Simon & Schuster (Atheneum) are going to publish the new book.  I’m thrilled.  It may take a while, as it needs some illustrating, but as soon as there’s a pub date I’ll let you know.

The aforementioned book about a squirrel has made it over the first obstacle.  My wonderful agent, Holly McGhee, is enthusiastic about it.  Now it’s with Simon & Schuster.  I’ll let you know when they weigh in.

Sorry for the long silence.  Since the previous post I’ve been working fairly hard on a story about a squirrel.  It’s set in New Jersey and New York City and is nearly done.

A really nice review of Firstborn in School Library Journal.  As for the audio book, it’s been decided to use a female narrator, as befits the story.  Jenni Barber sounds like she’ll do a fantastic job.

Firstborn got its first review today, a really nice one from Kirkus.  It was also named a Junior Literary Guild Selection.  Excellent news.  On the other hand, Simon & Schuster is doing an audio book version, and they’ve floated the idea of my reading it.  I don’t think so.  The narrator is a female magpie, for one thing, and for another I don’t much like my voice.
